The promise is this “No Calories, No Fat, No Carbs, No Gluten, and No Sugar

Upon seeing this for the first time, I thought to myself all of the ‘NO’ must mean that it has NO TASTE!

Stumbling Along

One Saturday afternoon, I am in the local grocery store shopping with my  daughter, like we always do every Saturday and when we started down the salad dressing isle, we saw this new product on the top shelf.

At first I almost always discount new products, especially since I became a Diabetic. More often than not, products have too much of one thing or another and even products that say they are healthy, aren’t healthy for Diabetics like me. But, I have to admit, the label really caught my eye, no calories, no fat, no carbs, no gluten, and no sugar, so I checked it out.

Nope Nothing

So, how could it be? A salad dressing that has so little of everything, have anything but a bland or watery taste? I spent a lot of time reading, re-reading and trying to understand how you can have a salad dressing with all of these great Diabetic benefits. Not only does it have zero calories, it has zero carbohydrates, and zero sugars. It’s really zero everything. So the big question is this: how does it taste?

Amazing Taste

The first flavor we tried was the Ranch dressing.

We had a salad recipe that called for a Ranch dressing, so we thought that we would try it out. I have to admit that at first, when not refrigerated, it comes out pretty quick and really looks like its soupy or watery. I really didn’t hold out much hope after applying the dressing to the salad. Man was I wrong and surprised when I first tasted the salad recipe. It tasted just like Ranch. It was favor-rich and  it left nothing wanting for taste.

Now, realize that you are not getting your grandmother’s thick and chunky buttermilk ranch dressing, but given how many things are missing, this salad dressing lacks nothing in taste.

Once refrigerated, like most salad dressings, this one thickened up and tended to stick to the food better.

Sauce it Up

Next on our list of flavors to try was the Thousand Islands. If I thought that the Ranch flavor was good, man the Thousand Island was even better. I found myself putting it on everything, cauliflower rice, meat, vegetables, an basically anything that could use a little sauce was a perfect candidate.

Show me More Please

Now that we have tried the first two, I have been looking for other flavors in my local grocery, but not until recently did I find out that Walden Farms has a website where we can order all kinds of flavors.
