We have already discussed the first things I bought as a new Type 2 Diabetic were important.
Worth mentioning is that the second things that I bought as a Type 2 Diabetic have served me better at managing and bringing my blood sugar levels under control.
Measure what you are eating.
As a new Type 2 Diabetic, it is important to control your portions. The best way to ensure that you are eating the right amounts is to measure out what you eat. I know this sounds mundane and tedious, but if you want to control or even beat your Type 2 Diabetes, then you MUST measure what you are eating.
Measuring cups are essential.
The 1/2 cup measuring cup will become your new best friend. You will find that a serving of most pasta or proteins are best served in 1/2 cup portions. This is key to keeping your carbohydrates down, which then translates to controlling your blood sugar levels.
You can also use measuring spoons.
Measuring spoons are also a good idea. I don’t find my measuring spoons to be as critical as my measuring cups, but none the less they are very important. I tend to use the 1 tablespoon all the time. Most peanut butter, jelly, margarine, and spreads a like all use about 1 tablespoon as a serving size. Keeping control of your anything that you spread onto your meals can be just as important as the portion size of the item itself.
In a nutshell, the second things that I bought as a new type 2 diabetic were:
- Measuring Cups
- Measuring Spoons
